Movie Night in Federal Way

TEW is showing the movie "Paraiso - Tatlong Kuwento ng Pag-Asa" (Paradise - 3 Stories of Hope),  a movie that was produced a few years ago to help spread awareness of the GK movement.  Although a bit dated, there are still many who have not seen this interesting take on the Gawad Kalinga movement.  You won't be disappointed.  Based on true-to-life stories, the movie features Filipino actors Maricel Soriano, Michael V., and Cesar Montano among others.  Be entertained, be moved, be informed.  Come and see it:

Team Evergreen's Village Build Has Started!

Calamba, Laguna is the site of TEW's village
Team Evergreen Washington in Seattle has just received word that the village they have been raising funds for has been started.  As of last week, the site was in the process of being graded and groups of volunteers are being scheduled to descend upon the site between September and December in the hopes of completing the homes and community facilities for the poor families to move in before Christmas.  It is an exciting time for all of Team Evergreen Washington and its supporters.

Because this is a team effort with two churches in San Jose, California, the village is being called Msgr. Sandersfeld St. Victor Evergreen GK Village  in Majada, Calamba, Laguna - birthplace of our country's national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal.  One of our partners in San Jose is honoring their parish priest while another partner is doing it as a church project - hence, the long name representing the 3 groups.  More details will be forthcoming as we receive reports from people who will participate in the build.  If you would like to participate, please feel free to contact us and we will put you in touch with the people in the Philippines who can take care of you - from airport to village build and back.

More than ever now, your commitment to the completion and support of this village is needed.  Once the infrastructure is set up, it will take some time to get the villagers up and running to become self-sufficient through the GK programs.  We would appreciate your continued support during this time.  TEW is sponsoring 2 more fund raising activities this year and hope you'll be able to participate.  Stay tuned!
