Members of TEW, Joe Velasquez (60+ years) and Rod Castillo(42+), both weekend cycling warriors, will be riding the nationally renowned 204 mile bicycle ride from Seattle to Portland on July 17 and 18 to raise awareness and raise funds through pledges for the GK village that TEW is building. Both guys have been training for the past few months, making sure that their ride will not only be an epic experience, but also one with a meaningful cause."10,000 other riders from all over the country are riding the STP for all sorts of reasons. We figure, we should ride to bring awareness to the plight of the poor, and raise funds doing it," comments Rod. "The fact that you're doing this not only for the fun or the health benefits - but specifically to collect pledges for the TEW village once you've completed it is great motivation for both me and Joe."
Let's show our support for TEW by pledging towards this cause. A one-time pledge or a per-mile pledge (remember if they complete the course, that's 204 miles) in any amount is accepted - just send your name and your desired pledge amount to our email at teamevergreenwa@gmail.com.Note: the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic is organized by the Cascade Bicycle Club of Washington.
